Get to know Jon

Currently, Jonathan Kruger is a Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he serves as the Director of Performing Arts. While attending the Eastman School of Music from 1980 – 85 Dr. Kruger had the privilege of studying trumpet with Barbara Butler and Vincent DiMartino as well as jazz studies and arranging with Rayburn Wright.

After completing his Doctorate of Music Arts at the Eastman School of Music in 1985, he performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Teaching positions include: The School of the Arts in Rochester, NY, trumpet instructor at the Hochstein School of Music and trumpet instructor and Director of Jazz Ensembles at the State University of New York at Geneseo, NY. During his performance career he performed with Johnny Mathis, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Spinners, Julie Andrews, Cleo Laine, Barry Manilow and many others. Dr. Kruger is currently the co –director of the New Energy Jazz Orchestra and Musical Director for the Prime Time Brass.
