Get to know Marv
Marv has been playing trumpet since 1979. In his formative years, he studied with Tom Drake at the Eastman School of Music’s Community Education Division (now called the Eastman Community Music School) and later studied with Dick Jones and Sue Brown in the greater Rochester area and Dr. James Madeja at the Crane School of Music at Potsdam College.
His primary training was in orchestral and classical music and he later performed in the jazz, pop and drum corps styles with groups like the Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra, Power Company and the Rochester Patriots.
Marv is a United States military veteran and served as an F-16 Crew Chief for 3 years then graduated from the United States Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training fighter/bomber track in the T-38 Talon supersonic fighter/trainer and later served as a Communications Officer for the North East Air Defense Sector of NORAD.
At present, he plays lead trumpet with Prime Time Brass, plays trumpet with the Syndicate Jazz Band and sings tenor with the Rochester Oratorio Society while working full-time in the telecommunications data networking field.
