Project Description

Get to know Mike

Mike has been playing trumpet since he was 13 in the John Marshall Jr. HS Band. He transferred to Aquinas Institute where he earned 1st chair by 10th grade.

He started marching Drum Corps with the Greece Cadets in 1980, and later marched with The Rochester Renegades, The Avant Guard and eventually became a Charter member of the Empire Statesman Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mike studied music at Hochstein School of music and, later, at Monroe Community college.

He taught several HS bands along the way, but his fondest memories are of the Mt. Morris HS Pageant Band.

Mike played with The Hitman Brass Band for a few years until ultimately becoming one of the founding members of Prime Time Brass, where he became the group’s owner/operator for the first 10 years of its existence.

For business and personal reasons, he relinquished that position and now enjoys being just one of the guys who loves to play his Mellophone and Flugelhorn.

Prime Time Brass is Mike’s “Band of Brothers”; the brotherhood of musician’s who he gets to play with week after week.
