What is Prime Time Brass?

Prime Time Brass is the premier brass ensemble in the Finger Lakes region. With a rotating roster of over 30 talented musicians and five distinct configurations, Prime Time Brass offers flexible entertainment that ranges from intimate dinners to high-energy, venue-filling bar entertainment, and even literal Mardi Gras parades.

Configurations

Each of these groups consists of musicians who are in Prime Time Brass, often in multiple groups. All groups are indoor/outdoor. Mix and match for a longer, more dynamic event!

Prime Time Brass Jazz Combo

  • What: Small group plays jazz standards
  • Where: Weddings, restaurants, background music (Ex: Pane Vino on the River, The Alexander)
  • 5 players - trumpet, trombone, electric bass, piano, drums
  • Duration: 30-180 minutes
  • Logistics: Small footprint, needs a flat space for drums, power for a portable amp/speaker

Krewe de PTB

  • What: Elite group plays New Orleans-style brass band street music; more uptempo and exciting
  • Where: Bars, Music Venues, Festivals (Ex: Record Archive Backroom, Lilac Festival Busker Stage)
  • 8 players - 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, sousaphone, drums
  • Duration: 30-120 minutes
  • Logistics: Fully acoustic, needs a flat area for drums

Prime Time Brass - Stage Show

  • What: Elite large group performs high-energy New Orleans-style brass band street music, featuring more uptempo and exciting crowd interaction with a full rhythm section and vocals, all intermixed with the full brass band.
  • Where: Festivals, sporting events, corporate events, and anyone who wants to party! (Ex: Rochester International Jazz Festival, Artisan Works, SUNY Geneseo Alice Austin Theater)
  • 15-30 players - trumpets, trombones, mellophones, flugelhorns, sousaphones, electric bass, electric guitar, drum kit, optional vocal
  • Duration: 30-90 minutes
  • Logistics: Needs a flat area with power for bass/guitar/vocal portable amps

Prime Time Brass - NOLA Stroll

  • What: Full New Orleans brass band
  • Where: Festivals, private events (Ex: Mardi Gras, Geneva Rosé Soirée)
  • Duration: 30-60 minutes
  • Logistics: The entirely acoustic setup enables players to move freely throughout the venue, interacting with the crowd as they perform.
